Vacationing on an island is all about relaxing… and getting that perfect photo for your Instagram account.
I know it, you know it, so let’s get to it.
This guide to the best Instagram spots on Caye Caulker will take you to the most picturesque spots on the island, including:
- A high dive
- Sunset spots
- Water swings
- Swimming with sharks
- And so much more!
So, use it to get the perfect Instagram picture on Caye Caulker so you can leave that phone at home, get drunk, and spend the rest of your trip in the water where you belong!
1. The Lazy Lizard Bar
The colorful building, the bucket of beers, the underwater tables, it’s all perfect. Plus, you can get drunk while you hunt for the best Instagram spot here, what’s not to love?
2. The Lazy Lizard high dive
This is a twofer. Make your spouse/partner/bestie take a pic of you leaping off the high-dive, then climb up on it and take a photo of the bar, island, and famous Split from above.
3. The Lazy Lizard, The Split, and Caye Caulker Signs
The Caye Caulker sign is obviously ideal but it also has a kinda-ugly playground behind it, so the Lazy Lizard or The Split signs will probably be better bets.
4. This perfect tuft of palm trees
It’s perfect. This is my favorite photo from my five-day stay on the island and, in my opinion, the best Instagram spot on Caye Caulker.
5. The west side of Caye Caulker
This is the most diverse place for an Insta-shot on Caye Caulker.
The west side of the island is less visited but more beautiful than the eastern side. I took this photo from the private dock at my colorful Airbnb but you can go to Maggie’s Sunset Kitchen to get similar views.
At Maggie’s, you can also see the gigantic tarpon fish that live in front of the restaurant. Hold your hand over the water and wait for them to jump up to bite to snap an animal action shot.
6. Margarita Mike’s
Take a photo from afar to capture the perfect beach vibe at this Instagram spot on Caye Caulker, then order a double tequila shot before heading on your merry way.
7. Coro’s Gift Shop
It’s cute and colorful. If you’re less lazy than me you could probably get a super cute picture here. If you’re as lazy as me, you still may as well snap one on your way past it.
8. A traditional lobster dinner
Lobster season on Caye Caulker is from mid-June to mid-February. If you’re lucky enough to be there during this time (like me) a giant steaming lobster makes a perfect foodie Instagram picture.
This delicious lobster with rice and beans (ok, and mashed potatoes, I like carbs and I won’t apologize) from Belizean Flavas was only 25 bzd / 12.50 usd… that’s a steal.
9. The water swings, hammocks, and sunset at Iguana Reef Inn
Besides the perfect tuft of palm trees, Iguana Reef Inn is my other favorite Instagram spot on Caye Caulker.
It has water swings, overwater hammocks, pelicans, and perfect sunset views.
10. The pelicans at Iguana Reef Inn
Stay for sunset and the pelicans will come hang out with you.
They’re not afraid of people and will coyly pose for a great Instagram photo that has the bonus of making you look kinda outdoorsy while also giving your followers a break from the 10,000 beach shots you’ve probably already posted.
11. Swimming with the sharks
Did you know Belize is situated on the second largest barrier reef in the world? Because of that snorkeling is one of the most popular activities here and you’ll probably find yourself on a trip at some point during your stay.
Both the half-day and full-day trips include swimming with the sharks and it’s definitely one of the best Instagram spots on Caye Caulker if you’re brave enough to take your phone or camera out on the water.
12. Caye Caulker Main Street
I took this in front of La Isla Resort but the whole strip is really photogenic. Walk around just after sunrise for the best light and vibes. If you’re truly committed to the island aesthetic, you can also rent a bike to complete the shot.
13. Caye Caulker Side Streets
Give ‘em a wander and you’ll find some photogenic spots. This one is marked on the map below but you can discover plenty of your own on a sunrise walk through the island.
14. This hammock garden at Ice n’ Beans Cafe
I affectionately called this little spot my hammock garden and came here every morning around 6:30 to drink coffee and watch the sunrise.
It’s in front of the Ice n’ Beans cafe and is unbelievably peaceful. Plus, there’s usually a few cute dogs playing around to complete the vibe.
Which brings me to my last Instagram spot on Caye Caulker…
15. The adorable island dogs!
The island dogs are all kind of loved and cared for by the locals and some of them are super cute.
I’ll be honest, this absolutely adorable puppy lived at my Airbnb (his name is Gumbo, and he’s perfect) but there are plenty of other dogs you should stop and give a scratch and some love to when you pass by.
