Dan and I travel full time and live out of a carry-on bag. We move to a new Airbnb apartment every month and, unfortunately, most of them don’t have blenders. So, our portable blender got a lot of use in the past year.
I wrote this Cozibot portable blender review to break down how the small blender held up against a year of use, what I love about it, whether or not it’s worth the price (and bag space), and much more.
But first, let’s start with the stats:
Why invest in a Travel Blender?
Dan and I started traveling with a small blender because we live in Airbnb apartments.
I could write a whole blog post about the ridiculous ways that Airbnbs are furnished (oh wait, I already did – you can check it out here) because we rarely have half the basics we need and we almost never have a blender.
This is a problem for two reasons.
First, frozen fruit smoothies are my favorite way to consume fruit and cool down in hot weather. And second, since we cut back on buying and cooking meat at home (to help the environment) Dan started drinking protein smoothies every day.
We needed a small blender that could fit in our carry-on bags (yes, we both live out of 55-liter backpacks) and that could stand up to a heavy travel schedule and every-day use.
So, we bought the Cozibot portable blender on Amazon and it has been amazing.
Bringing a portable blender on our travels helps us eat healthier no matter where in the world we go because we can easily make fruit, veggie, and protein smoothies every single day.
Even if you don’t travel a lot, these portable blenders are still clutch to keep on your desk at work to mix up a smoothie for lunch or a protein shake before you head to the gym!
What comes with the Cozibot Portable Blender?
A bunch of stuff, actually. When you order the Cozibot portable blender it’ll arrive with:
- The blender made up of three pieces – the base, the clear plastic cup, and the blue blender cover
- A mini ice cube tray to make mini cubes that the small blender blades can handle
- A velvet carrying bag
- A USB charging cord
- Instruction manual and warranty
How to Use a Portable Blender
These small blenders are portable because they’re powered with rechargeable batteries instead of electric plugs.
Because the Cozibot blender is charged with a USB cord, you can easily charge it with any blocks you already have for your phone in your home, in your car, or even with a portable phone charger.
In our experience, the fully charged blender can usually make around four or five smoothies before it needs to be charged again.
To make a smoothie, place the clear plastic cup in the blue plastic covering and:
- Fill it ⅔ full with fruit, veggies, or whatever else you’d like to put inside
- Put in small blocks of ice from the mini ice-cube tray (if necessary)
- Fill it with water, milk, or juice to the top of your food (not the top of the cup, that would be too much).
Then, you put the base on upside down and twist it until the two arrows on the top and base line up.
Flip the blender and double tap the button to start it. It blends for a set amount of time, so you don’t need to hold the blender button down. Usually, I blend each smoothie twice to get to the desired consistency.
When it’s done blending, unscrew the blue plastic covering (not the whole top or your smoothie will spill!) to reveal the hole in the clear plastic cup. Pour your smoothie out or drink it directly from the blender!
My Personal Experience with the Cozibot Travel Blender
As I stated above, Dan and I have been traveling with and using this portable blender for the past year while we lived in Turkey, Ukraine, and Mexico.
We don’t use it every single day, but we do more often than not.
I like that it’s easy to clean, easy to pack into our Osprey bags when we move to a new city, and durable enough to get thrown into the dark underbelly of a bus or plane and come out on the other side. Dan has dropped it or knocked it off a table at least twice but it’s still going strong.
After one year of use with the Cozibot personal blender, I don’t see any obvious wear or tear or any reason why it won’t last another year.
Because of that, I recommend this personal blender to long-term travelers, digital nomads, vacationers, weekend warriors, and those of you who are just trying to make your workplace and daily routine a little healthier.
Portable Smoothie Blender Recipes I Love
These are some of our favorite super easy recipes to mix up in our portable blender.
- Fruit smoothie: Frozen fruit – I like mixed berries or mango – blended with water.
- Fruit cocktail: Frozen fruit blended with water and vodka.
- Healthy banana ice cream: Frozen banana slices blended with cocoa powder, cinnamon, and almond milk.
- Blended iced coffee: Coffee blended with almond milk and mini ice cubes.
- Protein shake: Protein powder blended with milk.
Are portable blenders worth the price (and bag space)?
For us, definitely.
The Cozibot portable smoothie blender is only $39.99 (and if you have Amazon Prime it even comes with free shipping) so it’s a pretty low investment for a pretty high payoff.
Traveling with this small blender over the past year let us make a small change in our lives to eat less meat and do our (very tiny) part to help protect the warming planet. Plus, it makes it super easy to eat fruit every single day and stay healthy on our travels.
If you’re someone who regularly invests in $5 smoothies on your morning commute or lunch break, this will also save you tons of money (and calories, they pack those with sugar) as well.
The Cozibot portable blender helps us do good for the planet, our bodies, and our wallets – I highly recommend making this small but powerful lifestyle change today 🙂
